Wake up, America! In this time of crisis the God of our Fathers offers to us “a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJ).
Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska, has been nominated as the Republican Party’s Candidate for the Vice-Presidency of the United States of America, to serve under their Candidate for the Presidency, Senator John S. McCain. His selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate is, in my opinion, an act of God. In my excitement with this “good news,” I was awakened early one morning with a clear vision of a passage from the Book of Ezekiel. In 593 BC this prophet of God said to ancient Israel:
“The word of the Lord came to me, saying,… ‘You are a land that is not cleansed.…’ The people of the land have used oppressions, committed robbery, and mistreated the poor and needy.… So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. Therefore…I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; and I have recompensed their deeds on their own heads” (Ezekiel 22:23-31)!
Earlier, in 1296 BC, God found no man to “…make a wall, and stand in the gap…” as a righteous judge, counselor and prophet. He found, instead, a woman!
Deborah was God’s choice, a prophetess without whose presence the leader of the army refused to go into battle. She instructed the commander of 10,000 faithful warriors to move against oppressive forces that vastly outnumbered them, and had “900 chariots of iron”! With Divine Intervention through Deborah, the attackers were forced to flee when their iron chariots bogged down in the mud produced by a flash-flood! To assure victory, God provided another woman, Jael, who dispatched the terrorist leader with a tent-spike to the head, a task no man had been able to accomplish (Judges 4:4-24).
In my vision, I see God’s pattern for salvaging nations that have fallen from grace to sin – a Satan-led circumstance that man sometimes seems unable to rectify. What does God do? He finds a woman for the job.
Another woman He chose “for such a time as this” was Esther, queen of ancient Persia, who put her life on-the-line in 510 BC to prevent the annihilation of her people (Esther 4:15,16). Of course, most of us are more familiar with God’s selection of Mary, a virgin, who brought forth His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to restore humanity’s free access to Himself!
When Senator McCain, who experienced spiritual rebirth as a POW of the Vietcong, recognized America’s spiritual, moral, and ethical condition today, and her potential fate (similar to Ezekiel’s prophecy), he faced a dilemma. He sought for a man with all the right credentials for his running mate; but he, too, “found no one”!
Then, in a bold move reflecting his wisdom, humility, and strength of character, he chose a woman, Sarah Palin. This exceptional woman who walks with God, having committed her life to Christ as a teen-ager, is a wife and mother of five, an athlete, musician, fisher-woman, huntress, college graduate, PTA member, former council-woman and mayor, and now Governor of the Great State of Alaska. She enjoys the historically greatest popularity of all present governors.
As Simeon’s prophecy (Luke 2:25-35) was endorsed by the 84-year-old prophetess, Anna, one year my junior, I endorse John McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin as God’s choice for America in “such a time as this”!
